    MIMI JOSHI & JAY KOTHARI

July 13, 2013 in Atlantic City, NJ

When she signed up for a free trial on Match.com Mimi never imaged it would end in her walking down the aisle with the love of her life. She had pretty much lost faith in the site until she stumbled upon Jay’s profile and decided that he alone would be worth the $40 to purchase a full subscription.

“Hi, I hope you’re doing well” was all she could muster to send him in a message. It was not until after her full subscription that she received the three messages Jay had already sent to her. She eagerly responded, but he replied that his subscription was ending and sent her his phone number to contact him instead.

“HE WAS MY FIRST AND LAST DATE ON MATCH.COM” MIMI JOSHI

It was not long before they had set a date for their first meeting, a date that she rescheduled twice. Finally, on what seemed like the rainiest night of the year, she found herself on her way to Serendipity in Manhattan to meet her Match.com man. “He was my first and last date on Match.com," said Mimi and even though she finally met him after the third try, she was so happy that she did. When Mimi saw Jay, she thought it was truly love at first sight.

On October 20, 2012, Jay proposed to Mimi. He brought her to the top of the Empire State Building to admire the city from above the clouds. There were other tourists there, but what was different was a live band playing amongst the crowd. Suddenly, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his bride.

“I was absolutely ecstatic and was beyond happy to give him the “yes!” Mimi said. After that, they admired the beautiful lights surrounding the Lincoln Center and, to her surprise, Mimi’s best friend popped out of the bushes and started taking photos of them to capture her smile! Jay took her to the top Thai restaurant in New York City and at one in the morning brought her back to his place to present her with a “Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Kothari!” cake.

During wedding planning, they took a weekend trip to Delaware and decided at the last minute to stop at One Atlantic in Atlantic City. The moment they walked in, they both looked at each other and knew that the location was right. From that point on everything just went effortlessly. Mimi and her mother travelled to India to pick out her dress. Once chosen, it was time to work on the details.

The wedding day arrived. She woke up at 5am to prepare hair and makeup for her bridal photos on the beach with Jay. It was one of the hottest days of the summer and the last thing she recalled was collapsing into the sand due to heat exhaustion. She went back to the bridal suite to recover and redo hair and makeup in less than two hours. From that point on everything went great. They rode in a buggy on the boardwalk for their procession and then had the time of their lives dancing at the reception!

At the end of the day, her wedding was everything she could have dreamed and more. Despite all the unexpected obstacles they faced, she never lost faith because she knew that at the end of the day she would be with Jay. “Our wedding was great, but I think that my favorite part about it was when everything was over because it meant that Mimi is my wife now. I will never have to live without her again”
