All In The Details
San Francisco, California

As a fashion and style consultant, Katie Rice has worked with everyone from celebrities to royalty, and even a few pampered pets. So planning her wedding simply meant gathering the important details and weaving them into something sumptuous.
Katie met Brad Jones four years ago at a friend’s birthday party. Two years later, Brad proposed to Katie during a weekend getaway in the Napa Valley. Realizing his style-conscious fiancee wouldn’t settle for a cookie-cutter wedding, Brad happily let her do her thing.
I wanted to mix traditions and etiquette, but I also wanted our wedding to be reflective of our lives and the city we live in, explained Katie.
Neither Brad nor Katie had grown up in San Francisco, but they’d fallen in love with the city. For their rehearsal dinner, Katie chose the Swig Penthouse a top The Fairmont San Francisco, famed for its panoramic city view. After a ceremony at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, they proceeded to a reception at the stately and elegant Old Federal Reserve building.
"I wanted to create that old-world sensibility without marking the year of our wedding, Katie explained.
A childhood of dissecting fashion magazines with her grandmother helped Katie create a timeless theme for her wedding. I learned how to reflect my style through my grandmother, and it was important to me to wear her jewelry with a dress I had customized myself," she said.
Katie seemingly thought through every detail of her wedding, but Brad said it was something she nearly overlooked that stands out in his memory: the kiss-that-almost-wasn’t.
My wife was a little eager, and turned away from the altar before we kissed, remembered Brad. I caught her arm and said, Aren’t you forgetting something?"
The evening reception began with a wine and champagne reception in an intimate, curtained-off section of the Old Federal Reserve's lobby. After dinner and a wedding cake designed to match Katie's dress and flowers, the party was capped off with a vodka bar serving drinks named after different sights in San Francisco.
The couple took a mini-moon at Kenwood Inn and Spa in Sonoma, and are looking forward to their summer money-moon' in Istanbul, Santorini, and Athens.
