Perfume is an "extension of your personality," says Karen V. Marin, a Certified Fragrance Specialist for Sephora. "Scent can also alter your mood or create a mood." Marin believes it is particularly important for a bride to choose a fragrance for her wedding day. "Since a fragrance can evoke memories, you will always remember your wedding day when you smell the fragrance you chose to wear."
When it comes to selecting a scent, women should "devote some time to shopping for this the same way she selected a gown. It takes time and experimentation." If nothing else, a bride should wear "something that she receives compliments on. She will be hugging a lot of people on this day. She wants to leave a lasting impression," reminds Marin.
One of her personal favorites for the bride to be: Hermés Eau des Merveilles, meaning water of miracles. "It makes me think of the hopes and dreams you would carry with you on your wedding day," Marin notes. "Plus, the bottle is a collector's version that would always remind you of this special day."
Marin's thoughts about other scents this season include, Michael Kors Island: "one whiff and you are immediately transported." Calvin Klein Euphoria Blossom: suggestive of a "flower in full bloom." Givenchy Lovely Prism: notably for the "sophisticated, yet young at heart." Valentino V Absolu: can be summed up in five words—"intense, sexy, and slightly mysterious." Roberto Cavalli Serpentine: "features mango flower, a reputed aphrodisiac." Estée Lauder Heritage Collection White Linen: perfect for the "consummate fan of White Linen." Yves Saint Laurent Young Sexy Lovely: "for the trendy YSL girl who mixes fashion with fun." Badgley Mischka: reminiscent of "the glamorous days of old Hollywood, yet timeless enough for a modern woman." Gucci Envy Me: created for "the woman who demands attention." Prada Intense Deluxe: "intertwines memories, reality and possibilities." Guerlain Insolence: made for "the confident woman who fears nothing and no one."
