Yervant (Grand Master Photographer FAIPP, Hon F MPA UK) is esteemed as the most influential wedding photographer of the past 30 years. — WPPI USA
To many, he has set new standards in modern wedding photography internationally, often controversial in his approach, but soon emulated around the world.
Yervant is passionate about capturing a couple’s most significant day—their wedding day—in a realistic, natural way, but at the same time resulting in images that are quite stylistic and starlistic. Then the pièce de résistance is the wedding album! “A wedding album," he describes, "is a couple’s definitive narrative of their wedding event. It needs to tell the day’s story. It must preserve the most precious moments, as well as all the fun and impromptu times and present them all in the finest light for the time and for generations ahead.”
Yervant is a staunch believer that a wedding album should be created by the artist, who not only photographed the day, but also finished those images to create a storybook encapsulating the entire day. Following this approach, he believes that the album becomes an art form in itself.
"Digital technology has allowed many photographers to take a camera and photograph," notes Yervant, adding: "but the core of the craft is in true technique: seeing light, painting with light, posing (naturally), capturing all that goes on in a single moment, and then preserving it for the bride, groom and their families. I am portrait photographer, fashion photographer, landscape photographer, photojournalist — all in one — no rehearsals, no retakes, no stylists, no art directors. I have to deliver perfect results of all genres of professional photography each and every time. I have to retell the story of a wedding day in my pictures.”
His albums have set new milestones in the art of storytelling through pictures. He designs stunning repertoires with his images and engages the Italian company, GraphiStudio, to print and create each and every album. "High quality is not only in the capture, but also in finishing, printing and book binding," says Yervant.
