    RIA KOMODROMOS & MATTHEW ATKINS

August 31, 2013 in London, England

Ria Komodromos and Matt Atkins met in a bar in London as their eyes met across the room. Nonetheless, he got in a taxi to go home and realized he had forgotten something and made the taxi turn around. He came back because had forgotten to get her number.

When they first met, Matt thought Ria was quite out of his league. This impression was amplified when he actually spoke with her and found out that not only was she stunningly attractive but kind, funny and intelligent. She thought Matt was a laid back, handsome and gentlemanly Mr. Cool.

"HER FIRST GIFT BEING A CHANEL HANDBAG. HER SECOND GIFT WAS A HERMES BRACELET. THEN, HER LAST GIFT WAS A PAIR OF WHITE FLUFFY KITTENS WITH A DIAMOND RING!"

Matt’s proposal came two years into their relationship. It was Christmas morning and they were exchanging presents. He made her go and hide in the bedroom each time he presented her with a gift. She would enter the living room and he would give her a new box. She did this three times with her first gift being a Chanel handbag. Her second gift was a Hermes bracelet. Then, her last gift was a pair of white fluffy kittens with a diamond ring! He got down on one knee, under the Christmas tree, and she said, “YES!”

They always wanted to get married in a London hotel and thought The Savoy was the perfect combination of classic yet elegant with lots of history. They loved the Art Deco style and thought the ballroom was stunning. They chose August for a summer wedding as it is least likely to rain in England. Bruce Russell and her mom, Rula, helped them by providing information on the best vendors within the industry. The couple had very similar tastes so the whole process was easy and enjoyable.

On the morning of the wedding, Ria was nervous yet calm. She knew that Bruce had everything under control so this gave her peace of mind. They were both looking forward to marrying their soul mate and seeing all the people that meant something to them in one room.

Their wedding theme was old Hollywood glamour. The reception had neutral palettes of ivory and cream with a touch of gold and accents of mirrors and crystals. There was an abundance of flowers to create warmth. Candles were lit everywhere with a scent of Hellebores to create a romantic ambience. One of the reasons why they chose The Savoy was that they were able to have an a la carte menu. The food and wine tasting was one of their favorite experiences of the planning process.

At the end of the wedding day, they both could not stop smiling. They had a fantastic day and loved seeing all of their friends and family. Everything went according to plan thanks to the two years of planning and detail that went into their wedding. “It was the perfect day,” Ria said.

For their honeymoon, they travelled 14 hours to Los Angeles and stayed at the Beverly Wilshire for a bit of a city break. They did lots of shopping and ate in some delicious restaurants. Their favorite was Nobu in Malibu which had the most stunning views. Then they travelled seven hours to Bora Bora and stayed at the St. Regis for pure relaxation.
