Justine Pipes and Mike Mullen met in Dallas, Texas when he went to the hospital for a routine check up and she was a cardiac nurse who happened to be working that day. Mike was immediately smitten and their love quickly grew when they discovered a common love of animals and travel.
After dating for several years, Mike proposed to Justine the day she lost her beloved 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel, Sadie. He pledged to love and support her for the rest of his life; words he intended to honor again on their wedding day in Los Cabos, Mexico.
The immediately knew they would marry in Cabo, where they own a penthouse at Las Ventanas overlooking the water. It's where they fell in love, relaxing by the ocean and circling the property's famous arches on Mike’s yacht, The Chubacabra.
Justine planned every detail with the help of Maria Jose who works in the resort's romance department. It was important to her to incorporate traditional Mexican elements into the cuisine and entertainment so it should be no surprise that Friday night's beachfront welcome dinner included an eight-piece Mariachi band and Aztec fire dancers.
Saturday morning started early with bridal bootcamp by Los Angeles and Cabo San Lucas-based exercise guru "Modu" followed by spa services for the bride, her sister and mother. Afterwards, Justine changed into a custom Carolina Herrera gown with subtle nuances to Mexican design, while Mike donned a Tom Ford suit and Gucci shoes.
The all-white ceremony took place on the beach at dusk and was witnessed by 75 of the couple’s closest friends and family. Following a mini beach photo shoot, Justine and Mike joined their guests on Las Ventanas' terrace overlooking the Sea of Cortez for their reception.
Everyone enjoyed a five-course dinner then moved into the tent for dancing and cocktails. A fireworks display capped the evening for most, but Justine had one more surprise: she arranged for an outdoor bedroom where she and Mike could spend their first night as Mr. and Mrs. Mullen sleeping under the stars and listening to the ocean crash below.
The couple continues to live in Dallas, splitting their vacations between their penthouse in Cabo and their house in Aspen.
