After growing up in the small town of Brandon, Mississippi, Megan Anderson moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in 2003 to pursue her MBA at Hawaii Pacific University. "I fell in love with both the place and the people. And I soon met my husband Sean (Garvey), who is originally from Phoenix, Arizona, in January of 2007 at a mutual friend’s party," shares Megan. "We felt an instant connection and were inseparable from that point on."

The couple got engaged three years later. While they were preparing to head to the airport to greet Sean's parents who were arriving to spend a week with them on Oahu and Kauai, Sean popped the question. "We have a silly tradition where Sean occasionally gives me a rubber band that he gets from work," says Megan who then wears it on her wrist like a bracelet to remind her of Sean. "So, as I was looking for my keys in my handbag that evening, he asked casually 'Do you want my rubber band?'" Not thinking anything of it, Megan quickly replied, “No,” countered by Sean's “Are you sure?” "As I turned around to say 'Okay,' he was already down on his knee with the ring and the rubber band tied through it." As Megan prepared to put on Sean's mother's ring, everything became a complete blur. "I really can't remember what either of us said. When I say I was completely shocked and overjoyed, I was," explains Megan. Being a planner by nature, Sean knew that the best way to surprise Megan was to ask her at a moment when she would least expect it, and it worked perfectly. They spent the evening celebrating with Sean's parents over champagne.

Soon after, they decided to invite their family and friends to join them for a destination wedding at one of their favorite vacation spots: Princeville, Kauai. But that wasn't before enjoying engagement parties in both of their hometowns. The weekend celebration began with meet and greet cocktails on Thursday at The St. Regis Princeville Resort bar, followed by a night out in Hanalei with close friends of the bride and groom. On Friday, the bride’s mother hosted a champagne bridal luncheon at the hotel's poolside restaurant and on the eve of the wedding, the groom’s parents held a sunset rehearsal dinner for everyone at Dukes Kauai Restaurant. All of the festivities were "filled with eloquent odes to love, tradition and family history," smiles Megan. The next night they were married during an evening ceremony on the oceanfront lawn. The traditional Hawaiian ceremony was officiated by Reverend Kelvin Ho.

Afterwards, the bride’s parents welcomed everyone to a cocktail hour on the Bay Terrace, which offered spectacular panoramic views of beautiful Hanalei Bay and the surrounding mountains. The reception, bedecked with white orchids, was held in the Astor Ballroom. Guests enjoyed traditional island cuisine and dancing until midnight when they showered the couple with rose petals upon their departure. "It truly was a magical week in a spectacular setting filled with love and celebration and shared by those who mean the most to us," says Megan.

They honeymooned on Maui and The Big Island of Hawaii before returning to their home in Honolulu, where Megan is the Hawaii Marketing and Public Relations Manager for Nordstrom and Sean works at Duke’s Canoe Club on renown Waikiki Beach.
