Always innovative, wedding-cake designers are finding inspiration everywhere from the bride's or bridesmaid's dress to the natural world.
Sleek, monochromatic designs offset by modest trim compete for attention with cakes that feature zebra stripes, bamboo leaves, henna patterns, and the trappings of a Faberge egg.
Fruit also plays a starring role this year, from whimsical sugar apples clinging to a four-tiered creation, to the frosted berries adorning a rustic design.
