    TANYA KERR-DE-GROOTE AND JAMIE FISHER

September 12, 2014 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Tanya Kerr-de-Groote and Jamie Fisher met during a road trip to Kingston that was organized by their mutual friend (and future maid of honor). “I thought he was extremely good looking and had a great sense of humor,” says Tanya; and Jamie noticed her great smile, and how she was “cool and intimidating in a good way.”

The proposal took place when the two of them were in the Bahamas, staying at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club on Tanya’s parents’ yacht. They took their jet skis over to a private island at sunset and Tanya was writing in the sand with her toes when Jamie came up behind her, got down on one knee, and popped the question.

TANYA AND JAMIE FELT AS IF THEY WERE “ON TOP OF THE WORLD.”

About a year was spent planning their wedding with wedding planner, Judy Stein Consulting, and floral designer, Designs by JP. The couple didn’t have a set vision when they began the preparations and decided to maintain an open mind, putting a great deal of trust into their planning team when it came to creating the right concept. “There was never a doubt in my mind that the day would be perfection,” Tanya says.

Their wedding day was an incredible experience from the moment the couple awoke that morning. The afternoon was spent taking wedding party pictures around the distillery district, followed by a beautiful wedding ceremony.

After the cocktail hour, curtains were parted to reveal the reception area. “It was absolutely jaw dropping,” says the bride. “Everyone was left breathless and it set the perfect ambiance.” Candles illuminated the entire space, and floral arrangements cascaded over each table, onto the floor. There were more than 6,000 blooms used in the wedding décor, chandeliers hanging above each table, and a floral installation with hanging tea lights above the head table. The table was also lined with French lace and a pearl applique border.

Guests thoroughly enjoyed the celebration and complimented the newlyweds on everything, from the décor to the food, which was perfectly prepared and presented. The energy in the room was so positive and strong, it was impossible not to feel the happiness and love from everyone in attendance. Throughout the night, Tanya and Jamie felt as if they were “on top of the world.”

By the time their wedding was over, they felt absolutely ecstatic and wanted to do the whole thing all over again. “It was the most fun we have ever had,” Tanya says. “We did it. We had the best celebration of our love and commitment with everyone important to us in our life. We wouldn’t change one thing about our day.”
