A Monaco honeymoon must, perforce, involve a yacht: of course you should arrive in style at the most glittering port city on the French Riviera. Centered on its Mediterranean harbor, the tiny principality of Monaco is home to Europe’s perfect resort city, Monte Carlo.
Less than a quarter of a square mile in size, Monte Carlo is nonetheless rich in history and culture, from the Avenue Saint-Martin along the coastline to the heights of Mont Agel. In addition to being a great destination for luxury shopping and home of the legendary Monaco Grand Prix race each May, Monte Carlo is a city of grand structures, from the famous Casino made famous by James Bond to the Opera de Monte Carlo, the acclaimed Oceanographic Museum, and the iconic Hotel de Paris, opened in 1864.
The latter, just steps from the Place du Casino, remains a favorite destination for lovers and romantics: the Hotel de Paris’ legendary Diamond Suites have wrought-iron balconies with timeless city views, the spa is one of the world’s best, and the hotel has two Michelin-starred restaurants as well as the acclaimed Le Bar Americain.
The Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo also offers five-star service and accommodations, blending classic and contemporary design in a setting that includes three Joël Robuchon restaurants and a pool area designed by Karl Lagerfeld.
