Polina and Simon met during a dinner party among common friends. Even though Polina was not looking to meet anyone, with Simon, it was love at first sight. She was taken by the fact that all night he kept trying to find reasons to talk to her.

After a five year relationship, Simon proposed during a trip to Italy. “We were in Venice,” remembers Polina, “one of the most romantic cities in Italy. We decided to take a gondola ride. I was really scared about the idea.

Simon insisted as he had already planned everything. Once we passed under the Rialto Bridge, he knelt down and told me ‘if I don’t fall in the Canal Grande, would you marry me?’ I broke down crying and laughing at the same time!”

The day after the proposal they visited Lake Maggiore. They decided it was the ideal location to host the wedding and celebrate with family and friends. With the help of their Italy based wedding planner, several emails and three trips to Italy, everything fell perfectly in place.

The ceremony and reception with the magnificent views of Lake Maggiore were perfect. Polina says “The dinner setting we wanted was like a dinner with friends; gorgeous yet simple. It looked like a dinner in the garden of our house.”
