A Modern Seaside Wedding At YL Residence No. 17 in Koh Samui, Thailand

Living in Bangkok, Nicholas Mulley and Vapee Jantarutsamee were casually introduced through a mutual friend. Since then, they haven’t spent a day apart.

As true jetsetters, the couple was visiting New York – a city where Vapee once lived and worked. Naturally, their marriage proposal had to be something special that was in line with their lifestyle and love of luxury hotels. While having dinner in the Presidential Suite at the St. Regis New York, overlooking Central Park, Nicholas popped the question.

Vapee and Nicholas knew exactly what they wanted when it came to the wedding planning process. For the wedding venue, they chose the spacious and modern YL Residence in Koh Samui, Thailand. The YL Residence has a sophisticated, yet laid-back ambiance, which paired perfectly with lush white flowers and a custom-made altar.

The wedding ceremony took place just before sunset, when the day’s heat was subsiding and the island was bathed in an ethereal light. Vapee was dressed in a couture wedding gown designed by her mother – a lifelong designer who carefully crafted the hand-embroidered ensemble and handmade veil. The bride and groom’s wedding rings were custom-made as well.

A relaxed, island vibe was combined with a sophisticated, society-like ambiance for the reception. The décor also reflected the couple’s personalities, with an elegant and simple aesthetic. The altar was adorned with floral arrangements and transparent strands, making it look as if the flowers were floating on air.

White was used as the primary color, with lush Phalaenopsis, native Thai orchids, and imported greens creating a dreamlike setting. At dinner, guests were seated below a stunning array of heavy floral chandeliers. The space was glowing with fairy lights and a moonlight sky, and silver and mirrored accents provided a sophisticated touch.

For the newlyweds and their guests, it was a wedding day filled with love and emotion. Touching speeches, an epic afterparty, and a fireworks show were only a few of the highlights that made the celebration a night to remember.
