    VIVIAN CHENG AND JACK JENG

September 28, 2019. Los Angeles, CA

“My best friend grew up with Jack in Arizona since their brothers are best friends,” says Vivian Cheng, recalling how she and Jack Jeng first met. “She set us up on a date when Jack moved to San Francisco for residency but had told Jack months ago that we’d be perfect for each other. She ended up being right! When I met Jack over drinks it was an immediate attraction. We both shared similar value and interests from the beginning.”

The proposal took place when the couple was vacationing in Japan. Jack said his co-worker had suggested they visit the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, and also claimed to have made dinner reservations at an upscale restaurant. Without suspecting anything more, Vivian dressed up for a trip to the gardens and a nice dinner.

“WE BOTH SHARED SIMILAR VALUE AND INTERESTS FROM THE BEGINNING.”

“It had been raining that morning, so I was pushing back on going to the gardens,” she recalls. “When we arrived, we walked around for a bit. It was completely empty that day due to the rain, but the sun came out as we got there, and the gardens were absolutely beautiful. When he got on one knee, I was in total shock and blacked out. Jack had one more surprise – he actually had hired a photographer as well – someone who I thought was just a tourist walking around! Very grateful all our memories of the day were captured!”

During the wedding planning process, the couple decided to get married at the EBELL of Los Angeles, as Vivian is from LA and most of her family is based there. For the décor, the couple opted for a classic and elegant wedding with a white color palette, peppered with spots of pink florals. They also enlisted the help of Aquafuzion, and the team of planners orchestrated an easy and seamless experience so the bride and groom could fully enjoy their big day.

“I was so nervous, but it truly was the best day of our lives,” says Vivian. “There was some completely unexpected rain in the morning (it never rains in LA) that stressed me out since we had a portion of the wedding happening outdoors. But just like our engagement day, the sun came out before the ceremony! The day of our wedding was when I saw Jack cry for the first time ever, and our vows were my favorite part, along with celebrating with friends and family. It really does go by too fast.”

After the wedding, the newlyweds traveled to Thailand and Taiwan for their honeymoon. “Thailand was memorable because my best friend who introduced us got married there,” Vivian shares. “We spent time at the incredible Sri Panwa in Phuket. Taiwan was great because we had a second reception to celebrate with extended family there, and Jack and I are both Taiwanese-Americans.”
