    SHIRIN & KOUROSH

June 26, 2015 in Los Angeles, California

Shirin and Kourosh’s families had been well acquainted for more than 45 years when they first met at a family gathering eight years ago. “He sent me a friend request on Facebook soon after, but the timing never seemed right,” Shirin says. “First I was away, then he was busy. That lasted for two years.” Eventually, the two were able to coordinate their schedules long enough to meet for tea. Although Shirin admits to being nervous at first, she and Kourosh got along perfectly; and six months later, Kourosh surprised her with a beautiful proposal on a boat in Malibu, California.

The wedding planning process spanned a period of eight months, during which Aliana Events helped the couple put together a wedding inspired by French elegance. Shirin had already envisioned what she wanted for the big day, which facilitated the process, and touches of her personal style were incorporated in each unique detail.

“THE WEDDING GOWN CONSISTED OF TWO PIECES–A DELICATE LACE JUMPSUIT WITH A FULL SKIRT.”

Being a fashion designer, she also knew what she wanted for her wedding dress and veil, which included a veil by Monique Lhuillier, who customized her dress as well. The wedding gown consisted of two pieces–a delicate lace jumpsuit with a full skirt flowing over the top–making the design perfect for a surprise moment on the dance floor. Even the tailor at Monique Lhuillier said Shirin was “the first to come up with such a brilliant design.”

Both the wedding and reception were held at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles, where a vaulted ceiling and floral patterned lighting added an extra element of romance to the day. The color palette included blush, ivory, and soft pink, while peonies and hydrangeas graced every centerpiece as well as the couple’s Sofreh (a traditional Persian ceremony spread).

Candles were arranged along mirrored tables, and baby’s breath displayed in custom ordered crystal vases created a soft touch. “After all of the planning, it was really excited to see everything come together so beautifully on the big day,” says the bride. “Everything was beautiful, from the perfectly arranged flowers to the breathtaking Sofreh.”

Within an hour after the ceremony, the ballroom was transformed into the reception area. Wanting to include traditional Persian wedding dishes, the bride and groom contacted one of the top caterers in the Persian community who arranged a delectable buffet, as well as a station for a whole lamb. A beautiful cake was then served, with a design that tied into the rest of the wedding décor.

“Looking through my wedding photos by Duke Photography, I still can’t believe how perfect the entire day was–from the delicate flowers, to the one-of-a-kind Sofreh,” Shirin says. “Every detail was flawless and added a touch of elegance and romance to the day. I am so happy that I was able to watch my dream wedding be transformed into a reality.”
