A Private Estate Wedding Inspired By the Golden Era of Los Angeles
Maggie Sellers and Courtney Reum were first introduced through a mutual friend, Patrick Finnegan, at an industry event. Their connection was instant. Within thirty minutes, Maggie was leaning over to her sister Katie and saying, “I think that’s my husband.” As it turned out, Maggie was right.
The couple was soon inseparable. As two entrepreneurs, they began traveling together, building a life alongside one another, and somewhere along the way uncovered something that felt less like coincidence and more like design: both sets of their parents had married on the very same date, August 28th. The statistical likelihood, they would later learn, was approximately one in 130,000.
When it came time for the engagement, Courtney proposed in Paris, in the quiet hours before the French Open Men's Finals. The stadium was empty. Their song, "Higher Love," played across the courts as he asked Maggie to marry him, presenting her with a custom 7.08-carat emerald-cut diamond ring. The couple kept the news under wraps for months, letting the story unfold on their own terms.
The Civil Ceremony and Main Event
What followed Maggie and Courtney’s Paris engagement was a celebration told in two chapters. On August 28, 2025—the exact date both sets of their parents had married decades earlier in different parts of the world—they tied the knot during an intimate civil ceremony surrounded by immediate family.
Seven months later, on March 6 and 7, 2026, the couple gathered 250 of their closest friends and family for two evenings of celebrations in Los Angeles. The first event was a welcome party at their own home, followed by a ceremony and reception at a private family estate in Beverly Park—one of LA’s most storied hillside enclaves.

The wedding décor aesthetic was inspired by the Golden Era of Los Angeles: supper clubs, velvet rooms, candlelight, and glamour in the details. Deep burgundy and moody blacks were layered against soft ivory, cashmere, and blush. Tables glowed low with candlelit lamps. It was a celebration that felt both grand and entirely, intimately theirs.
At the heart of the room stood a custom 180-square-foot mural of olive trees, the very trees beneath which the couple had exchanged their vows the previous August, painted into the tent. Monogrammed details and hidden surprises were woven throughout the evening, each one chosen with care.
"When I walked in and saw the mural for the first time, with everyone gathered beneath it, I was completely overcome,” Maggie shares. “Those were the exact olive trees in our backyard where we had our civil ceremony. Seeing them painted into the room that way, surrounded by candlelight and every person we love most in the world, it felt as though the entire story of us was contained in a single image and the perfect backdrop to officially celebrate as husband and wife. I will never forget that moment as long as I live."
As the celebration unfolded, attendees were treated to performances by Mike Posner, Paris Hilton, and Justin Jesso. The guest list also included Congressman Ro Khanna, LL Cool J, and Yael Cohen.
The Wedding Wardrobe
Fashion was a defining thread across the weekend, with each look being carefully selected to symbolize part of the couple’s story. The bride kicked things off with a vintage 2014 Tom Ford gown for the rehearsal dinner, which she wore with Aquazzura shoes and jewels by Simon G.
On the wedding day itself, Maggie moved through four looks. She got ready in a custom creation by Taylor Pardee of Bella Venice, an emerging designer who first discovered Maggie through her “Hot Smart Rich” Podcast. That particular origin story was not lost on the bride. In wearing Pardee's work, Maggie carried the heart and soul of her biggest passion into the day with her: women living up to their potential.
Once she was ready, Maggie slipped into a vintage 2006 gown by Lespose Mariagraia Sirressi from the house of Il Quadrie Oglio, sourced by the curators at Happy Isles and paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and Dorsey earrings. For the reception, she transitioned into a Vivienne Westwood Galaxy gown, whose name is a quiet nod to M13—Courtney's venture capital fund, named for the great star cluster. The look was accessorized with a 50-carat necklace from Ring Concierge and the diamond studs Courtney had given Maggie the previous Valentine's Day.
The bride wanted something different for the afterparty, choosing a vintage 2004 Gucci by Tom Ford, sourced through The Vintage Project, worn with Aquazzura shoes and Simon G earrings. It was a final flourish that felt wholly, unmistakably her.
The groom wore Dunhill for the rehearsal and Tom Ford for the wedding, with Christian Louboutin shoes for a pop of red.
Celebrating Love in Los Angeles
With the Golden Era of Los Angeles being the evening’s inspiration, the wedding reception began in true LA fashion: with a movie premiere. The film from Maggie and Courtney's private August 28th ceremony played for the very first time as the couple prepared to make their entrance. When the final frame faded, their sisters, Katie Sellers and Halle Hammond, introduced the newlyweds together, welcoming them into the tent with the first toast of the night. The couple entered to their first dance, then delivered their own vows and speech, side by side.
"Courtney has a way of making every room feel like the most important room I have ever been in,” Maggie describes. “Standing beside him that evening, in front of everyone we love, I understood for the first time what it means to feel truly seen; not just as who you are, but as who you are becoming."
When the reception gave way to the afterparty, the evening found a second wind entirely. Paris Hilton, Maggie's newest sister-in-law, stepped behind the decks and kept the dance floor moving deep into the night. One final surprise was also held in reserve: a performance by Justin Jesso, who took the stage to sing “Stargazing,” Maggie's favorite song, as the night drew to its close.
For their honeymoon, the newlyweds jetted off to Africa, beginning in Ghana before heading south for their first safari together in South Africa. From there, their journey took them through Mauritius, Kenya, Senegal, and the Ivory Coast.
"We wanted to experience it all together for the first time," Maggie says. “It is, by any measure, the perfect beginning.”
