SARAH AL SAIRAFI & SAMMY YASSIN

    September 22, 2018. Tuscany, Italy

It was almost 15 years ago when Sarah Al Sairafi and Sammy Yassin first met in high school. “We always made an effort to sit next to one another in class, writing funny notes to each other and being told off at times for talking too much,” says Sarah. “It was a beautiful friendship; and over the years, though we went our separate ways, we would find time for a catch-up when we could.”

Everything changed for the two friends a couple years ago, when they decided to meet up in London for a quick bite. “That day was different,” Sarah recalls. “Our deep connection as friends had deepened even further, and had we suddenly become inseparable. We created new connections, learning about each other’s new lives as adults finding our way through this world.”

“WE BOTH RECALL EXPERIENCING JOY IN A WAY THAT WAS SO NEW AND HEAVENLY.” - SARAH AL SAIRAFI

After Christmas in 2016, Sammy whisked Sarah away to Italy to ring in the new year – one of several beautiful holidays they had spent together, exploring new cities. The couple woke up early on January 1st and Sammy proposed as they were watching the sun rise over Tuscany’s rolling hills.

That magical engagement led to a wonderful wedding planning experience. “We were both very much involved in everything,” Sarah remarks. “It was fun to have him as a partner throughout the journey. We were blessed with Rossana, from the Knot in Italy, who is now truly like a fairy godmother in our lives. She introduced us to the best vendors and made what could be a stressful time planning a wedding in a distant location so easy and enjoyable.”

Sarah and Sammy’s destination wedding in Italy was filled with bliss. “We were surrounded by our friends and family, and we both recall experiencing joy in a way that was so new and heavenly,” says the bride. “We never imagined our wedding would turn out to be such a fairy tale. Spectacular Tuscan food, wine, and culture surrounded us. Above all, we had so much love that was palpable from our guests, and equally so from Rossana, her team, the photographer, videographer, and every single soul who was present. It truly was and is the happiest day of both our lives.”

The newlyweds enjoyed a short but sweet honeymoon in Portofino, reminiscing and feeling grateful for everyone who made their wedding so special. “Months later, we still think of it fondly and are still overwhelmed with appreciation,” says Sarah. “Marrying your best friend, surrounded by love… we are truly blessed.”
