    TERESA AGUILA AND SAUL FLORES

OCTOBER 24, 2015 in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

Early on, when Teresa Aguila and Saul Flores were dating, Teresa picked up a copy of Grace Ormonde Wedding Style magazine and told him, “Someday our wedding is going to be in there.”

“Keep dreaming,” Saul replied, referring to the over-the-top soirees featured in these pages. Luckily for the couple, dreams do come true. Saul says it was love at first sight when he met Teresa at an L.A. gym, but it took a little longer for Teresa to be convinced. The two,who were in high school when they met, began dating, but took a break when Teresa left for college.

“BEFORE COLLEGE I STARTED THINKING, ‘HE MIGHT BE MY HUSBAND SOME DAY!’”

“Before college I started thinking, ‘He might be my husband someday,’” Teresa says. “But it wasn’t the right time.” The time was perfect, however, after she graduated and moved back to Los Angeles.

One night, Saul invited her to dinner at Hotel Bel-Air, where he had planned an impressive proposal at the property’s Wolfgang Puck restaurant. “It was really romantic—out on the patio and
everything was so pretty,” Teresa remembers.

Following a Christmas Day engagement party at Saul’s parents’ house, they started planning their wedding. Vibiana, an event space in the core of downtown Los Angeles, came up as a potential venue. Teresa had been to a Halloween party there yearsbefore and remembered the space being dramatic and luxurious. When they toured Vibiana, they knew right away that it was the perfect spot.

Teresa insisted on holding the ceremony inside, where it looked and felt like a chapel. “My grandmas are both very religious and I wanted the ceremony location to feel like a church for them,” she says.

This meant a quick change during the outdoor cocktail hour before everyone moved back inside for the reception. Staff worked to transform the all-white ceremony site—with hydrangea lining the aisle, urns overstuffed with orchids and roses flanking the altar—into a chic pink and black reception that glittered with crystal candelabras and hanging chandeliers.

“My husband loves black, and then the planner and I snuck in some pink to make it more feminine,” Teresa says. For the ceremony, Teresa wore a Romona Keveža ball gown, chosen because she wanted something big and elegant. She was even more pleased with her decision a few months later when she found out she was pregnant with their first child. “I was so happy I didn’t choose something form-fitting!” Teresa jokes.

For the reception and dancing part of the evening, she changed into a Terani Couture dress. After the wedding, the couple flew to Cabo for a small honeymoon, but with Teresa being pregnant, they put a longer trip on hold. Now, the new parents are planning something even bigger—having another baby. “I’m so thrilled with how everything has turned out!” notes Teresa with a huge smile.
