    ALEYSE FIELDS AND JONATHAN CUMMINGS

July 30, 2016 in Montgomery, Texas

There’s two different sides to the story as to how Aleyse Fields and Jonathan Cummings first met. While Aleyse says she met Jonathan through a friend during their freshman year at Baylor, he insists they met through Blackplanet.com. Either way, after being introduced via phone and social media, the two talked nonstop for three months.

Due to conflicting schedules and temporarily finding themselves involved with other people, it took eight years of conversing before Aleyse and Jonathan met face to face. After some initial anxiety – and valid fears of being “catfished” – they finally met when Aleyse took a trip down to Houston, Texas. And they’ve been inseparable ever since.

“WE WERE SO HAPPY WITH HOW EVERYTHING CAME TOGETHER, AND HAPPY THAT EVERYONE ENJOYED THEMSELVES.” ALEYSE FIELDS

In July of 2014, Aleyse and Jonathan were enjoying a cruise with two pairs of their coupled-up friends. Little did Aleyse know her then-boyfriend had something special planned for their Captain’s dinner during the third night of the cruise. After enjoying some time in Grand Turks, the group gathered on deck at the dinner table. Jonathan ordered a bottle of wine, stood up to make a toast, and went around the table to let everyone know what they meant to him. When he got to Aleyse, he started telling her how much she means to him and how much of an influence she has been on his life – all, before getting down on one knee and popping the question.

“I sat there in shock for a while and all I could think was, ‘I hope he asked my dad for permission,’” Aleyse recalls. “Then I heard Jay say, ‘So… you gone say yes…?’ I finally came to and said, ‘Yes I will marry you.’ Neither one of us could wait to get back to land so we could tell our family and friends.”

The wedding planning process spanned two years, which included a fair amount of stress. Once the wedding day arrived, however, everything flew by. A wedding theme of vintage travel was incorporated throughout the décor, which included an airport-like screen in the reception area that displayed each guest’s destination – also known as their table. No two tables were decorated the same, and centerpieces included globes, suitcases, vintage books, wrought iron airplanes, white flowers and candles.

The wedding cake was designed to look like vintage suitcases, topped with a globe that spun around throughout the reception. Blue lighting washed over the room, and burlap table cloths with teal chargers tied the color scheme together. The ambiance was perfect, and the newlyweds celebrated with their guests before driving off in a yellow Lamborghini.

“The overall felling at the end of the wedding day was ‘Wow! We did it,’” says Aleyse. “We were so happy with how everything came together, and happy that everyone enjoyed themselves.”
