    ALANA FRANKFORT & DOVID SPECTOR

September 3, 2017. Bridgehampton, New York

“Our first date was so much fun,” says Alana, recalling her first encounter with Dovid. “The second we saw each other we had instant chemistry. We literally stayed out all night – we didn’t want the night to end.”

The proposal took place on the anniversary of that first date, two years later. “On our anniversary, Dovid always chooses the restaurant and surprises me, so it was not unusual that I didn’t know what our plan was,” Alana explains.

"WISTERIA, WEEPING WILLOWS, AND THE ROMANCE OF AN ENCHANTED FOREST"

“He had the Uber driver drop us right near where we had our first date, and then he proposed on the corner where we had our first kiss – Hudson Street and Perry Street in the West Village – on the exact sidewalk where it happened. He had hundreds of roses and candles placed about and got down on one knee. He completely surprised me.”

With Alana not being a fan of making decisions, she credits her wonderful team of vendors for making an intense and challenging wedding process enjoyable. “One of my favorite memories from the weeks leading up to the wedding started off as a trauma,” she describes.

“I realized that something wasn’t right with my wedding dress. The thought of spending such an important day of my life wearing it felt completely wrong, and the fact that I didn’t know what to do about it became a huge weight.

Then one day, when I was at the end of my rope, my friend Stuart Vevers – the creative director of Coach – surprised me and whisked me away to his office where a brilliant designer, Andrea Roberdo Ruiz, redesigned my dress from the ground up – while I was wearing it! I felt like Cinderella, but more importantly, I was reminded how lucky I am to have such wonderful and supportive people in my life.”

Inspired by a place in the bride’s old backyard that she had named “Wonderland,” an expanded version of that childhood memory was recreated for the wedding, turning the entire space into its own “Midsummer Night’s Dream” filled with wisteria, weeping willows, and the romance of an enchanted forest. There were even secret passageways lit with lanterns, adding to the ethereal ambiance of the evening.

“It was a treat to disappear into this world for a night,” the bride says. “The wedding day was one of the best days of my life so far.”

After the wedding, the newlyweds took advantage of their honeymoon by visiting several places they’ve always dreamed of seeing – Australia, New Zealand, and The Brando and Bora Bora in the Tahitian islands.
