An Enchanting Destination Wedding at Chateau Sainte Sabine in Burgundy, France

Foreshadowing what would eventually come to pass, Katherine Morille and Pierce Jamieson’s love story began in San Diego, where they met at a wedding.

Pierce knew he had met someone special when he asked Katherine, “What shape do you think the world is?” And instead of rolling her eyes, she laughed and responded with, “A cube.”

The two became quickly inseparable, spending as much time together as they could while they were both in Houston.

“What shape do you think the world is?”

Katherine, a business school student at Northwestern, would have to return to Chicago to finish her second year at the end of the summer. Pierce wasn’t concerned. On his second visit, he claimed that he forgot to buy a return ticket and never left.

The couple’s journey together has taken them across the world, from quiet moments cooking with friends in Germany, to grand adventures in India. One such adventure led them to the sun-drenched island of Rhodes, Greece.

While exploring the Acropolis of Lindos, Pierce asked Katherine to marry him. He also had a surprise planned – her brother, having traveled all the way from Texas, emerged to capture the moment. The proposal was as much about love as it was about family, setting the tone for the life they would build together.

With a shared love of history, French dining, and excellent wine, the couple chose the rolling vineyards of Burgundy as the setting for their wedding. It was particularly special to Katherine, who had been visiting the area with her family for years.

“In one of our early conversations with our photographer, Barb Simkova,” she adds, “Barb asked us to describe our vision for the wedding. While we didn’t yet have a mood board or colour palette, we knew exactly how we wanted both ourselves and our guests to feel.

The words we shared with Barb were ‘Presence, Warmth, and Intentionality,’ and these became the guiding principles behind every decision we made.”

Planning a destination wedding from Houston was no small feat, but with the guidance of their planner, Mélodie, they found the enchanting Château Sainte-Sabine – a place where time seemed to slow, allowing love to take center stage.
