    KATIE MISHAAN AND ROBERTO ZYBERT

April 17, 2016 in Palm Beach, Florida

Although they had seen each other occasionally for several years, Katie Mishaan officially met Roberto Zybert at her cousin’s wedding in Miami. Once Roberto spotted Katie walking down the aisle as the maid of honor, he knew he liked her.

“We saw each other immediately after the ceremony, and danced all night long,” Katie describes. “At the time, I was living in New York, getting my Master’s degree, and Roberto was living in Milan. We both had an amazing time at the wedding, but honestly, I didn’t think much of it since I was leaving for my exams the next morning and he would be going back to Italy.”

“IT MIGHT SOUND CLICHÉ, BUT IT WAS REALLY THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE.” KATIE MISHAAN

A few weeks after the wedding, Roberto called and told Katie he would be visiting New York. This time, when he left, the two made sure to keep in touch and grow their relationship despite the distance. Talking every day via Skype, the couple got to know each other on a deeper level.

“I decided to spend the summer with my grandparents in Madrid, while I was writing my Master’s thesis,” says Katie. “Being in Europe, we saw each other a lot more, and we spent an incredible summer together.”

A few months later, while in Miami for New Year’s, Roberto proposed after a wonderful dinner at Cipriani. The proposal and ring took Katie by surprise, as she wasn’t expecting her then-boyfriend to pop the question so soon, and she excitedly called her family to tell them the good news.

During the wedding planning process, the newly engaged couple realized their ideal wedding date was only three months away. Planning the perfect wedding in such a short amount of time can be stressful, but Katie and Roberto relished in the excitement. With the help of J Group and Katie’s mother, everything fell into place right on time.

“All decisions had to be made quickly,” Katie adds. “In a way, it was better that we had no time to overthink everything.”

The wedding day took place exactly as planned. Everything, from the wedding décor to the ambiance, made for a perfectly surreal experience.

“When I walked down the aisle with my father, I looked straight at Roberto – it was the most amazing feeling in the world,” says the bride. “We danced all night long; and even though the wedding ended pretty late, it felt like it went by so fast. It might sound cliché, but it was really the best night of my life.”
