    HEIDI DENG & WENRONG JI

June 28, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts

Heidi Deng and Wenrong Ji first met during their years at Wharton. Though both served as VPs of the school’s PE/VC Club, they were barely acquainted until going on a road trip to the west coast for spring break. The two drove together, hiked, talked, laughed and became good friends. That following summer, Heidi and Wenrong grew even closer–supporting each other through difficult times and finding many commonalities–and ultimately, fell in love.

During a New Year’s trip to Barcelona, Spain (Heidi’s dream city), Wenwrong brought along an engagement ring. While resting on a swing in front of the Sagrada Familia, Wenwrong got down on one knee and proposed. As Heidi accepted, a secretly-arranged photographer captured the entire moment.

“WE COULDN’T IMAGINE BEGINNING OUR LIFE TOGETHER WITH BETTER BLESSINGS” HEIDI DENG & WENRONG JI

With only six months to plan their wedding, the couple brought Nicole Simeral onboard to head up the wedding planning process along with a talented list of vendors. The bride and groom-to-be also found themselves taking several road trips to Boston and managed to squeeze in time to learn their first dance together.

When the big day arrived, the bride and groom woke up to heavy raindrops pounding against the windows of their wedding suite; but they weren’t at all dispirited. Not only did the humidity make Boston’s surrounding greenery more vivid and beautiful, but rain also represents life, fortune and abundance in Chinese culture. A Chinese tea ceremony was held that morning, followed by games involving the bridal party, parents and family members–an especially warm and touching part of the wedding day.

Before the ceremony, limousine drivers dressed in black suits and white gloves held up large umbrellas to guide the way for the bride. That afternoon, a western ceremony at the Houghton Memorial Chapel in Wellesley College was held. Officiated by a Jewish rabbi in front of family and friends gathered from around the world, the ceremony was a true representation of the couple’s diverse life experiences.

The evening began with an elegant Baroque-style reception at the Four Seasons with orchid centerpieces, golden lace tablecloths, and crystal dinnerware gracing the tabletops. After the newlyweds shared their first dance, the second half of the night featured décor based on an Alice in Wonderland theme with a rainforest-inspired aesthetic. Guests then spent the rest of the celebration dancing and partying along to the music of a live band.

“We couldn’t imagine beginning our life together with better blessings,” the newlyweds say.
