    HONEY ENAYAT & ANDREW EVERSON

August 26, 2016 in Newport Coast, CA

Honey Enayat had just resigned from her position at Travelzoo and was looking for a quick getaway. After deciding to visit her friend Linda in South Lake Tahoe, Linda mentioned she would be attending a fundraising gala for the nonprofit organization, Soroptimist, and volunteered to stand at the entrance and collect tickets.

Honey joined her and, midway through the evening, noticed two tall men who were dressed rather casually for such a formal affair. One of those men turned out to be Andrew Everson.

“I instantly locked eyes with Andrew, who dressed and looked just like Ryan Gosling as Noah from ‘The Notebook,’” Honey recalls. “I realized I was probably staring, so I started looking down and tried my best to avoid talking to him and his best friend, Corey. As Linda collected their tickets and started chatting with them, she proceeded to ask if they’d like to dance with me later. I immediately said, ‘No, no, no, it’s okay – you really don’t have to,’ as I was both embarrassed that he felt obligated to dance with me, and just shy to be around him in general.”

Although Honey tried to avoid Andrew during the gala, Linda already knew him through his mother, Colette, who is also a Soroptimist member. Eventually, Andrew, his mother, and Corey approached Honey. After making the formal introductions, Andrew asked if she’d like to join them for a hockey game that night.

Honey declined, as she was a volunteer and it was getting late, but suggested going out at a later date. “As we were exchanging numbers, I glanced over at Andrew’s mother and turned bright red,” she describes. “I told her I was sorry and was super embarrassed. Andrew then said, ‘Why are you embarrassed? It’s not like I’m proposing or anything.’ Ha.”

As promised, Honey agreed to hang out with Andrew and his friends, which was an outing that included the beach, a movie, and bowling. About a week later, she was sitting in Linda’s kitchen when she looked outside and noticed Andrew parking his car next to hers. She watched as he placed a red rose on her windshield and drove away. “I was stunned,” says Honey. “He asked me on our first date to the movies, and we have been inseparable ever since. I decided not to return to Los Angeles, and live out my fairytale with ‘Noah’ in the mountains.”

The following year – once again at the Soroptimist gala – Andrew grabbed the microphone, told the crowd about their love story, and proposed in front of everyone. “She is not just my support system; she’s my incredible companion,” says Andrew. “Our story for me is, ‘An angel came into my life, opened my eyes, loved me for me, and made me a better person; and for this, I will forever love her through eternity.’ She’s the best person I know. She’s my favorite thing in the whole world. I feel so incredibly honored to be her husband.”

For their honeymoon, the newlyweds traveled to Marbella, Spain, where they spent time swimming, laying out in the sun, eating local cuisine, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
