    JAMIE VILLAFRIA & ANDREW KNAPP

August 11, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois

Andrew and I started dating when I was a sophomore and he was a senior in high school.  It started with harmless flirting which led to him asking me to his senior prom.  There was clearly a connection between us so we continued this relationship long distance while he attended Indiana University and I attended The University of Alabama.

Once I graduated from high school, I moved to Chicago where Andrew and I both worked and received great job experience.  However, we decided we wanted to make career changes so he returned to his family’s business and I decided to go into pharmacy school. Just as I got accepted into school things were on the up-and-up amongst us!

“FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, I KNEW I WANTED TO HAVE MY WEDDING IN CHICAGO—MY FAVORITE CITY.” - JAMIE VILLAFRIA

I had just finished my classes for the week and Andrew and I had plans to go away to Chicago for the weekend. I had driven home to Watseka (our home town) to meet him.  However, when I arrived at his house, he was neither packed nor ready to leave. I felt a little perturbed because I wanted to get on the road.  He somehow convinced me to go on a walk with him to get his “workout” in.  We started our walk and ended up in the park where we all grew up. All of a sudden, he took both my hands and began his proposal. Naturally I was so shocked and blanked out. I was so happy and of course said YES on September 9.

We were married on August 11, 2012 at Holy Name Cathedral. From the very beginning, I knew I wanted to have my wedding in Chicago—my favorite city, and wanted it in a particular church where I was a flower girl for a close family friend.

We decided to have our wedding reception at the W Hotel.  We chose this venue because of the breathtaking view of the lake and the cityscape. We had most of our friends and family from out of town, so we wanted them to have a complete experience.

All in all, our day was everything I could ever ask.  I feel incredibly blessed to have had such luck in finding the man of my dreams and for pulling off a wedding to remember.
