    TAYLOR MILLS & BRETT YOUNG

November 3, 2018 in Palm Desert, California

“I married my best friend,” says Taylor Mills, reflecting back on her wedding experience with her husband, country singer Brett Young. “He proposed to me in the most beautiful, charming, quaint, historical southern town of Oxford, Mississippi. He played baseball and basketball for Ole Miss, which he wanted to share with me as an important part of his life.”

After their engagement, the couple only had eight months to plan a destination wedding in Palm Desert, California. Taylor knew she wanted to have a modern and romantic wedding weekend filled with understated elegance, but she wasn’t sure where to begin the wedding planning process. Fortunately, she came across a local planning company – Elite Events.

“IT WAS SIMPLY THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE.”

“It was important to me that they could listen to my vision and get to know who I was, to make my dream a reality,” Taylor explains. “With eight months until ‘start time,’ a destination wedding desired, and nine different venues and events to plan for three days of fun, we had a lot to do! We had two incredible wedding planners, coupled with the most supportive and helpful mother who helped guide me through the process. My mom, having two daughters and loving to create and entertain, had a ‘Wedding File’ 30 years in the making! We had so much fun working together.”

When the big day arrived, the bride was getting ready with her bridesmaids when she looked out over the balcony to see the reception area being set up below. The event space was situated under an umbrella of tall palm trees, and the décor embodied the elegant and modern aesthetic she had hoped for, while still maintaining a relaxed ambiance.

“If you are still hearing a year later that ‘your wedding was the most exquisite, beautiful, and fun wedding’ your guests have ever seen or been to, you know we achieved our goals,” Taylor adds. “The varying heights of the table floral arrangements were thick cascades of white orchids draping downward from five-foot-tall acrylic bridges, paired with the candelabras twinkling atop rectangle mirrored tables. The dreaminess continued with the large white and gold monogrammed dance floor. My emotions were overwhelming at times, just stunned by my surroundings and for the love of my husband, as it was simply the happiest day of my life.”

“The wedding weekend was the summation of all the parts coming together to create a dream,” she continues. “Each detail fit together perfectly to create the most romantic and beautiful picture-perfect setting outside under the stars. It was the reflection of all the time, heart, and thought my husband and I, mom, family, and friends put into it; and yet none of it would have felt or looked quite the same without our steering committee at Elite Events.

They were the magicians pulling it all together, quietly and effortlessly bringing everything we had hoped or dreamed of to life!”
