We are thrilled to announce that Constantinos Sofikitis – half of the Constantinos and Petros photography duo – was a 2017 winner at the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards. As the world’s largest photography competition, more than 227,000 submissions were received from 183 countries. At the end, Constantinos won in the Open Street Photography category, and was also named the winner of the Greece National Award – an award that was granted to only one photographer in the ten Open categories.

“The street category was a difficult one to win this year, because there were so many brilliant pictures to choose from; but this haunting, menacing face really stood out and caught my eye,” says Damien Demolder, Chair of the Open Competition. “Constantinos has made great use of the light and a shallow depth of field to ensure that we all look in exactly the right place. Even an interesting subject needs the skill of a good photographer to make the most of it.”

The 2017 Sony World Photography Awards gala and dinner was held in London. Congratulations to Constantinos for this incredible achievement, and we know there will be several more photography awards in your future!
