JoAnne Brown and her team at Celebrations Weddings & Events have long been the go-to wedding planning experts in the Cayman Islands. For over 25 years, she has been producing high-end destination weddings and events for a discerning set of local and international clientele, providing everything from vendor management to emotional support leading up to the big day.
“At Celebrations Weddings & Events,” JoAnne shares, “our planning style is best described as intuitive, adaptable, and deeply personal. No two couples are alike, and we believe the way we support each wedding should reflect that individuality.
We design and plan across a full spectrum of celebrations, from understated, minimalist gatherings to elaborate, large-scale affairs with intricate detail. While our planning process remains thoughtfully structured and consistent, our approach evolves to align seamlessly with each couple’s vision and needs.”
Logistics tend to be the main point of concern for couples who dream of celebrating their nuptials abroad. With the right planner, however, hosting a destination wedding can be a surprisingly enjoyable experience.
“At our core, we lead with heart,” JoAnne adds. “We take pride in building genuine relationships with our couple, offering not just expertise, but reassurance, care, and unwavering support throughout the journey. In many ways, we become your ‘on-island wedding bestie,’ anticipating needs, easing stress, and ensuring every moment feels as effortless as it is extraordinary.”

Favorite Moments and Wedding Trends
While JoAnne and the Celebrations team makes it a point to enjoy the process from start to finish, the anticipatory moments leading up to the ceremony are the ones they cherish most.
“There is something incredibly special about the quiet anticipation in the bridal suite, the emotion of a father-daughter first look, and those final seconds before the walk down the aisle,” she says. “And truly, nothing beats that moment when the bride walks down the aisle. We truly love every stage of the planning process but witnessing everything coming together so beautifully on the day itself is a reward beyond words. It’s a culmination of months of intention, emotion, and collaboration, something you simply can’t replicate or bottle.”
When it comes to the Celebrations approach to current wedding trends, the team focuses on striking a thoughtful balance between what’s trendy and what’s timeless.

“Trends can be inspiring,” JoAnne explains. “They allow creativity and bring fresh ideas to the table. However, in today’s digital age, trends can quickly become repetitive and fleeting. For destination weddings, which are often planned well in advance, leaning too heavily into trends early on can lead to evolving preferences and unnecessary changes along the way.
“Classic design offers a beautiful foundation, elegant, enduring, and always relevant. We love incorporating subtle, trend-inspired accents to elevate that foundation, creating a look that feels both current and lasting. Ultimately, the most important element is the couple themselves. When a wedding reflects their personality and story, it will always feel authentic, and that is what truly stands the test of time.”

Destination Weddings in Grand Cayman
Unlike bustling cities and locations, destination weddings in Grand Cayman tend to offer a more flexible wedding planning experience. Since it’s a smaller market, wedding timelines are more fluid—although securing a wedding venue early is always advised.
“As a destination, it’s essential to give guests adequate time to plan and budget for travel,” JoAnne says. “Additionally, venue availability and pricing are not always released far in advance, which can influence timing. Ideally, we recommend beginning the process around one year ahead to secure your venue and key vendors, with more detailed planning, such as design and décor, taking shape around the nine-month mark. That said, flexibility is one of our strengths. We have successfully planned beautiful weddings within as little as three to four weeks, proving that with the right expertise, exceptional celebrations can come together in any timeframe.”
The one detail couples getting married in Grand Cayman often overlook is floral logistics—since nothing is grown locally on the island, all flowers for the wedding must be imported. This means availability and condition can occasionally be affected by factors outside of Celebrations’ control.
“We carefully plan for this by sourcing a wide variety of blooms, allowing flexibility for substitutions if needed,” JoAnne states. “While rare, customs inspections can sometimes cause delays, and we always ensure our couples are informed and prepared for these possibilities.
“From a planning perspective, couples [also] often don’t anticipate how much input is still required from them, particularly when it comes to guest-related details such as dietary requirements, meal selections, and seating arrangements. While we guide every step of the way, these personal elements do require thoughtful involvement.”

Curating a Luxury Experience
The “luxury wedding” label has been watered down in its meaning over the years, but Celebrations Weddings & Events has always upheld the highest of standards for couples and their guests.
“True luxury lies in the experience,” JoAnne says. “While beautiful décor creates a stunning visual impact, what guests remember most is how the celebration made them feel. Exceptional entertainment, a vibrant atmosphere, and seamless service all contribute to an unforgettable event. A full dance floor, flowing champagne, and genuine joy among guests, these are the moments that define a celebration.
“We also believe that destination weddings offer a unique opportunity to extend the experience beyond the wedding day itself. Thoughtfully curated itineraries, island excursions, and shared moments with loved ones create a deeper, more immersive celebration. In Grand Cayman, the destination itself becomes part of the luxury, inviting guests to explore, unwind, and truly savor the experience.”

As Grand Cayman’s top wedding planner, Celebrations guarantees every couple consistent, clear, and genuinely caring communication from beginning to end. The level of touchpoints may vary based on which service a couple chooses, but the Celebrations team is always within reach throughout the planning process.
“Whether you have a specific vendor question, you need a second opinion on a small detail, or simply want reassurance that things are on track, we're here,” JoAnne adds. “No question is too minor. No concern is too small. We plan many weddings each year, but every single couple receives our full, undivided attention. We want you to feel held throughout this entire process, not just on the day itself.”
For any couple going through the wedding planning experience–whether in Grand Cayman or elsewhere—JoAnne advises them to breathe and try to truly enjoy it.
“It's easy to get swept up in the details and let the logistics quietly crowd out the joy of what you're doing, planning one of the most meaningful days of your life,” she says. “But keep coming back to the bigger picture. The people who love you will show up, exactly as they should, ready to celebrate this chapter with you. The flowers, the seating chart, the timeline, all come together. It always does. And that's exactly why we're here: so that the process of getting there feels as beautiful as the day itself.
“What matters most isn't a perfectly executed floor plan. It's the marriage you're walking into. Hold onto that and let everything else fall into place around it. Having a planner in your corner means you don't have to carry the uncertainty alone, and that makes all the difference.”
