An Intimate Wedding at Enchantment Resort Inspired by the Natural Beauty of Sedona

Katie and Tanner are high school sweethearts who started dating less than a week after meeting for the first time. As it turned out, they had lived only five houses away from each other their whole lives; but they didn’t cross paths until a local Christmas parade in 2010.

Nearly a decade later, on Valentine’s Day of 2020, Tanner proposed at home. It was the week before the pandemic, and after the worst of it was over, Tanner made a New Year’s resolution to finally get married in 2024.

Inspired By the Natural Beauty of Sedona

With Enchantment Resort as their chosen wedding destination, the couple was inspired by the natural beauty of Sedona.

“We wanted the wedding to be luxurious and elegant,” they share, “while also intimate and sweet, but to blend with the scenery. We wanted our 13 guests to feel comfortable and spoiled rotten all week long.”

“We wanted our 13 guests to feel comfortable and spoiled rotten all week long.”

Enchantment was also Katie’s favorite family vacation spot as a child, so it felt extra special to show her new extended family somewhere so close to her heart. Initially, Tanner questioned why they would ever get married in Sedona. As soon as they arrived, he said, “I get it now.”

“Every last detail of the day was memorable,” says the couple. “Ashley and the Revel Team, along with Kayla Kudo and the Enchantment team, pulled out all the stops to make each part special. Their time and effort were the icing on the cake of our perfect day. We planned a family vacation to Enchantment in Sedona and Katie emailed their event team on a whim to see if they had any availability during our trip. Enchantment’s event staff set us up with Revel Wedding Co for planning and together, they made an absolute dream team. Ashley and Kayla put together the most beautiful day in less than six months and made planning from a distance an absolute snap.”

    Enchanting Wedding Details

The wedding ceremony was performed by the groom’s best friend, Mackenzie, who plays a significant role in his life, serving as his youth pastor.

“Our time together has been shaped by our immediate families,” the couple adds. “Having only immediate family with us for our day was absolutely perfect.”

The wedding cake was designed by Maggie Austin, who the bride has admired for many years. Working with Maggie and Jess to design her dream wedding cake was a “life highlight,” and the groom had his own special creation that was designed by Enchantment Resort’s incredible pastry chef, Deborah Heyd. With Tanner being a Liverpool fan, the cake was a replica of Anfield, Liverpool FC’s stadium.

Wedding cakes aside, Katie found herself most interested in the floral details of the wedding week. The floral arrangements were full, lush, and featured a rich array of moody colors – the perfect complement to the greenery of Enchantment Circle and the Sedona Red Rocks.

“I’d say we kind of went for enchanted garden,” she describes, “maybe even leaning towards Alice in Wonderland-like.”

Although the wedding ceremony took place outdoors, a floral-lined aisle made the small guest seating area seem more put together and intimate. Guests were surrounded by roses, dahlias, and orchids – all of Katie’s favorite flowers. Cynthia and Kimber at LUX Florist took the couple’s inspiration pictures without much explanation, and “knocked it out of the park.”

“Choosing Mary Claire Cook as our photographer was also a fantastic choice,” the couple adds. “Jesse at Freja Creative made all of Katie’s day of paper dreams come true, as well as making every piece of paper of wedding week paper absolutely perfect. Mary Claire and her team made it easier for our camera-shy group to feel comfortable and at ease. All of the ladies’ jewelry was designed by Always Coco Fine of Dallas, Texas or Lindsey Leigh Jewelry of Houston, Texas. Each piece was the perfect accompaniment to everyone’s Mac Duggal dresses.”

Of all the unforgettable moments the bride and groom experienced on their wedding day, Tanner’s favorite was venturing up the red rock pathway to the overlook for a sunset photo session. Not only were the views stunning – it was a very sweet way to spend their earliest moments as husband and wife.

Katie’s favorite moment was the rehearsal dinner, as it was the first time everyone gathered together to kick off the wedding weekend. The Chef’s Table at Che Ah Chi was gorgeous, and LUX styled everything to perfection.

“Some words of advice,” the couple states. “Get the wedding planner! Their resources for each detail you’ll need to pull off a perfect day are invaluable. We would never have found the amazing team we had without Ashley’s guidance and recommendations. We could never have pulled the day together without her continued support and assistance.”
